CVS SAME-DAY DELIVERY

Role: Content Designer

Project Plan: To build same-day delivery as a fulfillment method for web and app retail purchases, specifically within the cart and checkout flow.

Design & Scope Planning: To start, I worked very closely with the UX designers, the product team, and business partners to understand how same-day delivery would be implemented.

As a design team we worked through a basic user flow to ensure we understood the steps a user might take when using same-day delivery as a fulfillment method. We also worked closely with our product and development teams to understand the technical scope of the project and to plan timelines that ensured our digital experience would be ready for the launch. 


Design Process: Our design team spent time reviewing other retailer same-day delivery experiences to explore what opportunties were available for us to improve the experience and to understand what users expect from their fulfillment experience.

We then refined user flows and began building out wireframes, which we tested with users to ensure that the flows were clear for users. 

Once we confirmed our flows and basic design, we began building out the final high fidelity designs of the cart and checkout screens. In order to add same-day delivery as a fulfillment method to our cart and checkout experiences, we needed to completely reimagine our fulfillment flows and the ways we conveyed fulfillment information. We changed the design of the fulfillment picker and added several modals to help convey the options users have for fulfillment.

 

There were a number of different potential scenarios. So I built a content matrix to make sure it was clear what text users would see in each scenario. 

We began work on the project in January 2023, with a hard deadline for launching same-day delivery in June 2023. Same-day delivery was successfully launched on time and has been a huge success in increasing digital orders across all of CVS.
